NASCAR had an opportunity to address the championship format in a meaningful way. Instead, the final decision landed somewhere in the middle. Rather than returning fully to a season-long championship, as many fans had hoped, the sport chose a compromise approach.

Given how unpredictable the playoffs had become in recent years, some fans still welcomed familiar elements — including the return of the term “Chase.”

And just as discussion around the format appeared to be settling down, Kyle Busch offered a new perspective on the changes, reopening the conversation once again.

This might even make you scratch your head. And what's worse is that Busch used Jimmie Johnson's name to make a point.

Driving the No. 12 Stavola Brothers Buick, NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Allison won the 1988 Daytona 500. This was the last victory of his storied career. And it famously featured a 1-2 father-son finish with his son, Davey Allison.
